Acoustics

Sound phenomena create both, positive and negative emotions, depending on their respective characteristic.

On the one hand there are comfortable sounds like music. On the other hand, our world is full of acoustic sources with stressing character; traffic or machinery noisiness to be noted representative.

Dealing with the enjoyable side of sound, it is the task to minimize or even eliminate all factors disturbing the sound propagation.

For the second topic, it is to eliminate the origin of sound or at least reducing the propagation of sound as effective as possible.

In both cases I would be glad helping you and like to offer my expertise on sound phenomena to you in order to solve your acoustic question.

Using extensive analytic processes on the sound originating and sound propagation region all components of the acoustic system will be identified. Depending on the question, modeling of the system and simulation of the sound will follow. In this way varying solution strategies can easily be tested and the most promising identified.

For different sound sources like structure-borne or aeroacoustic phenomena, different countermeasures are chosen. It is also relevant, if the spectrum is more tonal or broadband. Standard procedures include:

  • Helmholtz-Resonators for tonal spectrum
  • foam or porous ceramics for broadband emission
  • active systems, like sound-inversion (sound forming systems only)

All these methods can be implemented in heavy-duty environment like food-technology, high-temperature and acid/base surroundings by use of appropriate materials.

The highest relevance lies in the analytics of the sound creating mechanisms. If it is possible to find countermeasures here, not only noise emission can be avoided effectively, but also the effectivity of the system can be increased. This is due to the fact, that sound emission always implies loss of energy and increased wear of the machinery.

Acoustic systems are mostly too complex, not only because of the high number of influencing and mutual dependent factors. Therefore it is not possible to give any general proceedings here.
To get a satisfying solution, it is mandatory to analyse the system together with the costumer.
